In the past six years, Kitty City Inc. has provided funding for spays and neuters to more than 5,000 cats and dogs in the Mid-South.
More than 3,500 of those were through TNR efforts. Even using the lowest predictions above and only using half as females, that is an impact of MILLIONS of homeless cats in our community and the associated suffering and costs over the next ten years.
What makes us different from other rescues is that we are focused on saving taxpayer dollars by preventing cats from entering shelters in the first place. In 2014, 63 % of all cats that were taken to Memphis Animal Services were euthanized. In 2017, 2018, 2019 and so far in 2020, Memphis Animal Services did not euthanize any healthy cats, partly due to its partnership with Kitty City.
